One of my big ambitions for Copilot Capital was to show that a better managed, ๐ญ๐ž๐š๐ฆ- ๐š๐ง๐ ๐ฉ๐ž๐จ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ž-๐Ÿ๐จ๐œ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ž๐ ๐ฉ๐ซ๐ข๐ฏ๐š๐ญ๐ž ๐ž๐ช๐ฎ๐ข๐ญ๐ฒ ๐Ÿ๐ข๐ซ๐ฆ could outperform the traditional model. I studied anthropology at university, so Iโ€™ve always been interested in how people work and interact. When I moved from consulting into finance ten years ago, I was surprised that the sector doesnโ€™t manage or support its people better.

The finance sector is full of highly intelligent, motivated people. But all too often, ๐ก๐ฎ๐ฆ๐š๐ง ๐ฏ๐š๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ž ๐ข๐ฌ ๐ฆ๐ž๐š๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ž๐ ๐ฌ๐จ๐ฅ๐ž๐ฅ๐ฒ ๐›๐ฒ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐ฌ๐ข๐ณ๐ž ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐š๐ง๐ง๐ฎ๐š๐ฅ ๐›๐จ๐ง๐ฎ๐ฌ.

I saw junior team members struggling to access clear career guidance. And managers avoiding difficult performance conversations, even when these could have benefited the company and the individual.

It was easier just to say everything via the bonus.

High pay means people work hard over long hours, but this culture breeds inefficiency, poor management, and burnout. It's a huge waste of talent and potential.When I founded Copilot, I wanted to take a different approach, building a culture that gets results ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ก๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ ๐›๐ฎ๐ซ๐ง๐ข๐ง๐  ๐ฉ๐ž๐จ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ž ๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ, grows stronger the more time our team spends together and that is more supportive of real life, by:

Building a people-first culture not only helps us attract people and investors but also translates into better outcomes for our portfolio companies. It creates a ๐Ÿ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ก๐ž๐ž๐ฅ ๐ž๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐ž๐œ๐ญ: staff are motivated to work hard, stay long-term, find the best deals and create more value across our portfolio, leading to better outcomes for everyone.

You donโ€™t need to be an anthropologist to see that itโ€™s a better way to run a business that people actually want to be part of โ€“ and stay with for the long-term.
