Business growth and an expanding portfolio mean team members are taking on increasing dealmaking, board, and leadership responsibilities.
Copilot Capital has started 2026 with two promotions: Dave Sun to Partner, and Zerxis Billimoria to Director. Both Dave and Zerxis have been with Copilot since day one and have been instrumental to the company’s growth and success in the last two years.
A business school classmate and rugby teammate of Copilot Founder, John Messer, Dave Sun led the company’s investments in Relesys and PriceShape, while playing a significant role in building Copilot’s strong and growing position in the Nordics.
Having previously spent seven years at Hg Capital, the leading software investor, and subsequently as an operator at TravelPerk, he has proven his investment judgement, ability to source, execute and convert deals, and his strength leading boards.
In his role as Partner, Dave will continue to run the Nordics, while expanding the team around him, to take a greater role in building the Copilot business. He will work alongside John Messer to develop Copilot’s broader business strategy, operations, and thought leadership as the business expands.
“I’m thrilled to be stepping up, and huge credit goes to my fellow Copilots – it’s truly a team sport,” said Dave. “This is the most exciting time I’ve seen in my career as a tech investor and it’s amazing to work with a portfolio of businesses so well positioned to capitalise on the AI future. It’s a privilege to help them and Copilot maximise the significant opportunity we have ahead of us.”
With an MBA from London Business School, alongside deep investing and board experience, Zerxis has built a reputation as a highly thoughtful team member, who provides valuable insight and judgement across the deal and portfolio lifecycle.
At Copilot, Zerxis has embraced the startup mentality to help put Copilot on the map, working on every successful deal to date and recently stepping up to lead the investment in Zendr.
As a result, he has proven that he can spot a great investment, gain the trust of management teams, and achieve buy-in to Copilot’s philosophy and hands-on approach. He has also found time to take on proactive coaching of more junior team members, reinforcing his leadership potential.
As a Director, Zerxis will consistently take the lead in the deal process, by sourcing, executing and converting deals to build Copilot’s portfolio across Europe. He will also take an increasing role on portfolio boards, working closely with founders to set strategy and maximise business growth.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed helping to build Copilot over the last two years, but I couldn’t have done it without my fellow Copilots,” commented Zerxis. “Our founder and relationship focused approach gives us the edge both in the deal process and post-deal, and I look forward to taking a greater role in expanding our portfolio of European Champions going forward.”
“It’s fantastic to start the year with two hugely deserved promotions,” commented John Messer, Founder and Managing Partner of Copilot Capital. “I am delighted for Dave, who I have known for many years, and can’t think of anybody better to help drive Copilot forward. And I’m incredibly proud of Zerxis, who first worked for me as an intern six years ago and has a true instinct for investing. It has been phenomenal to see his career develop and the impact he has had at Copilot. I can’t wait to see what more he and Dave can achieve this year, and beyond.”
